Swans Recruit More Experience
Swan Districts Football Club this week secured the signature of George Hampson as it prepares for the 2019 WAFL season.
Hampson adds to the significant experience in the Swans playing stocks to complement and help nurture the long list of emerging young talent at the club.
Hampson has played 108 WAFL games kicking 135 goals and averaging 22 disposals and 5 marks per game. He emerged from Scarborough Football Club playing 61 League games with Subiaco between 2011 and 2014 and then 47 games with East Fremantle.
He’s achieved tremendous accolades in the WAFL including winning the Fairest and Best with Subiaco in 2013 and also East Fremantle in 2018. He also represented the State in 2014, won a WAFL premiership in 2014 and was named in the WAFL Team of the Year for 2018.
Last season, Hampson played 17 of a possible 18 matches for the Sharks and went on to average 27.2 possessions and kick 18 goals. In six of those games, he had 30 or more possessions as well and only twice did he fail to reach 20.
“George’s ability to have both an influence through the midfield and forward of the ball is his greatest strength. He’ll be a valuable addition to our club and will play an important role helping teach our many very talented young players who have graduated from our Colts program over the past couple of years”, says League coach Adam Pickering.
“He’s played a lot of football over the past 8 seasons and had some significant injuries, however the results he achieved last season indicates he still has a lot to offer”.
