Welcome to the Swans New Mascot – Madjitil Maali

Thursday, April 4, 2019 - 3:30 PM

The Swan Districts Football Club welcomes the arrival of its new mascot, Madjitil Maali.

Madjitil is Noongar for magic and Maali means black swan.

The Wadjuk Noongar people are the traditional custodians of the land that is the home of the Mighty Swans.

The maali has lived along the mighty Swan River, named after the maali for a long time. The Swan river is a special place for all people, animals, fish, plants and birds.

Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean is our club’s special place for football and is also home to our own special maali.

Magical things have happened at Steel Blue Oval over the past 80 years especially with some of our men’s and women’s footballers and also our home games.

This season Madjitil Maali is coming to nest in one of its modern spiritual homes, here at Steel Blue Oval.
