Cyril Jackson Health Festival Program
As part of the Swans Inclusion Program, funded through the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building grant, supported by the Department of Disability Services - On Wednesday the 15th of May, the V Swans and Swan Districts Football Club Community team participated in the Cyril Jackson Health Festival.
We had our own stand filled with lots of football club information which encouraged students and teachers to make healthy life choices and promoted our great club. There were many prizes up for grabs, to take one home participants needed to handball the footy through the target. The students enjoyed our stand because they kept coming back for more! For many it was the first time they had a footy in their hand and they were all very keen and happy with all the new skills they have learnt.
Swan Districts Football Club current players who assisted with the day included Jayen Farrant, Zane Trew, Kara Donnellan (AFLW Dockers Captain) and Rikki Ryan. They taught the students how to hold the football and explained to take their time instead of rushing it. Club legend Shane Beros was also there sharing his knowledge with the young participants. V Swans were represented by Cheryl Thomas and Tracey Swami who were the lucky ones handing out the goodies!
The day was a huge success and we enjoyed getting involved with the students. The Cyril Jackson Hospitality students did a fantastic job catering the event with a wide range of healthy snack and lunch options. We look forward to being involved with next year’s event and are sure it will only get better!
