In response to the article “No WAFL Reserves” by John Townsend published in the West Australian newspaper on the 2nd April, our President Peter Hodyl would like to make the following statement:
“I will categorically state that at no time during any meetings I or our CEO have been involved in, has the Council of Presidents, the WAFC or the WAFL CEOs, discussed the possibility of no Reserves competition in 2021. Further to this, Swan Districts strongly believe this competition is critical to the continued development of our players and will fight to our last breath to ensure it remains as a genuine pathway for developing players and in its current format. I would like to assure everyone at Swans, this is not on any agenda from our club and I reiterate we will strongly oppose any move that threatens our current WAFL structure.”
