Roebourne High School experiences a sea of colour

Monday, June 15, 2020 - 9:56 AM by Matt Ogg

Is there anything better than trying to complete an obstacle course while getting pelted head to toe with an array of different coloured powders?

This is what the students at Roebourne High School experienced last Friday as part of their in-school Colour Run.

Organised by Swans Development Officer Matt Lorne and the Girls Academy Roebourne Team the course was split into four sections, comprising of;

  • A sack race,
  • An army crawl under ropes,
  • A sprint, and
  • An egg and spoon race over a balance beam.

Classmates were waiting at each obstacle with handfuls of powdered chalk, ready to turn participants into human rainbows as they made their way around the course multiple times.

In case there were any students who weren’t already colourful enough after completing the course, a free-for-all colour fight with the remaining powders concluded the day, filled with fun and laughter.

This event, thanks to the support of National Indigenous Australians Agency, was run as a reward to the students for achieving positive school attendances so far this year!
