Swans AFL School Ambassador of the Year Award
Congratulations to all 51 active Primary School (PS) AFL School Ambassadors (AFLSA) and 16 High Schools (HS) AFLSA in our Swans District! Of the 69 PS and 24 HS in the district we have a dedicated AFLSA at 45 of those PS and 14 HS, each doing fantastic work either in the classroom or out on the oval promoting our great game.
In 2009 the AFLSA who took out the prestigious ‘SWANS DISTRICT AFLSA OF THE YEAR’ was dedicated new comer to the program Matthew Snell from Darlington PS. His involvement at the school as both footy lover and as Deputy Principal enabled them to play Eagles Cup (a weekly inter-school carnival), Eagles Faction Footy (intra school program), enter a team in the Swans Footy Lightning Carnival, Swans clinic coaching sessions, enter a team into the inaugural Swans ALL Girls Lightning Carnival and a provide a huge turnout of students at the Swans ‘Smarter than Smoking’ April & July holiday programs. This is just to name a few programs he and the school sunk their teeth into! Congratulations Matty and thank you for all of your hard work this year!

Our Secondary School ‘SWANS DISTRICT AFLSA OF THE YEAR’ has a different angle in footy and this hard working teacher represents not only St Brigids College in Lesmurdie but has to wear many other caps surrounding her commitments to the game as a well respected female umpire. Congratulations to Alison Moore from St Brigids College – Lesmurdie for your efforts not just in 2009 but for the previous 10 years in the game too! Alison has had a Smarter than Smoking Schoolgirls Cup division named after her, which only comes out of respect and hard work!
Thank you all again for your time and efforts and I look forward to working with you again, see you all in 2010!
