After returning from Christmas break on the 9th of January, the players have been through some extremely tough training in the last 2 weeks!

The hardest aspect of this block was a team building get away to Boddington. The players were subjected to 48 hours of one of the toughest camps run by SAS specialists. After arriving at 8 o'clock at night the players pushed out a 16km session which lasted 7 hours! Working in teams of 11 they had to run, walk and at one stage swim across all manner of terrain in the dark whilst hauling a truckload of heavy equipment. After finishing the task, they had a very basic feed and then got an hour of sleep before being up at 6 for a full day of mental and physical challenges.

At the end of the first full day the players were extremely tired but were then subjected to more sleep deprivation and a beep test at 11pm at night. This was followed by a few hours of sleep before a 3am wake up started another 7 hours of work.

All up, close to 50kms were completed at different levels of intensity and at the end of it, I have no doubt that the experience was extremely beneficial in terms of improving communication between our players. It was also a great opportunity for our boys to become closer as a group under severe physical duress and I'm sure this camp will be a great stepping stone for the rest of the pre season, and the games ahead!

With only 4 short weeks until our first practice game on the 25th of February, we are still working very hard to get the most out of every session. We also look forward to Friday where we secure a high quality recruit or two in AFL recruit draft! Stay tuned for an announcement of those players!

Happy Australia day to all..
