Over the past 2 weeks ex Port Adelaide forward Marlon Motlop has been training with SDFC. He was recommended to us by Jarrhan Jacky who became good mates with him when he was in Adelaide during his AFL stint. Marlon played 6 games for Port and has spent recent times playing some excellent footy in the NTFL and also the SANFL. He is an excellent athlete and looks comfortable both coming off half back and playing in attacking roles.
Last week, the club and Marlon agreed to terms, and we are extremely happy to have him on board. His ability to kick the ball brilliantly will add class to our football team and without doubt make us more efficient going forward of centre.
Last weeks training saw us focus on our pressure skills. It was an area that we were extremely poor in last year with missed tackles and weak defence hurting us consistently. We plan to rectify this issue and reinstate ourselves as a hard working and hard nosed football team that is physically aggressive. Swans have always been regarded as a blue collar team from a blue collar area and the boys are very keen to make sure that this culture is upheld and built upon.
Only a couple of boys on the comeback trail now with Luke Miles running well and only a few weeks away from full training. Pratt, Potente and Blight all continue to fly along with their work!
Only 19 days until our first intra club on the 25th February followed by our first pre-season match vs Subiaco at Medibank on 3rd March. Cant wait to get going and I'm sure our players and supporters are feeling the same!
