Following their success in the 2010 AFL Quiz, Glen Forrest Primary School has again been noted for its football smarts, receiving second place in the national competition for the Year 5 category. The AFL Quiz is a free on-line competition, which is geared towards developing the literacy and numeracy skills of students in years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
In 2011, more than 100 teams and 300 students competed nationally for the chance to win a money can’t buy AFL match day experience. The teams from Kulin District High School and Santa Clara Primary School were the lucky recipients of this special prize.
The Glen Forrest Bumblebees, which was made up of several students from Glen Forrest Primary School finished in second place and were presented with a special SDFC showbag and AFL store vouchers to spend at any AFL store of their choosing.
Glen Forrest Primary School AFL School Ambassador, David Wheatfill, who has been a key part of the school’s success in the AFL Quiz, was duly recognised at the School Assembly with a bag of SDFC footballs, which the school will use to promote greater participation in AFL school programs.
