Eagles soar at Steel Blue

More than 150 kids aged 5 to 12 braved the rain and the prospect of thunderstorms to go down to Steel Blue Oval to experience the thrills and spills of football. Kids took screamers in front of the famous Bill Walker Stand, snapped some tricky goals from the boundary line and soaked up the smell of liniment oil in the SDFC change rooms.
The day’s proceedings began with the delivery of showbags followed by a series of skill stations conducted under the watchful gaze of SDFC league players such as Stephen Coniglio, with the support of the 15’s Development Squad. The SDFC Past Players kicked in to support the School Holiday Clinic by producing a delicious BBQ lunch, followed by the arrival of some special guests.
Stars from the West Coast Eagles stole the show with both kids and parents alike spotting Nic Naitanui, Daniel Kerr, Jack Darling and Quinten Lynch, Brad Ebert, Mark Nicoski, Andrew Strijk, Ashton Hams, Anton Hamp, Callum Wilson and Jeremy McGovern. The West Coast Eagles were more than happy to sign autographs, take photos and impart some sage advice at the skill stations dotted around the oval.
The School Holiday Clinic drew to a close following the departure of the West Coast Eagles and the last sequence of skill stations. Swans District staff delivered a short presentation followed by a quick group photo. The 15’s Development Squad took the opportunity to present 10 lucky kids with a football to take home.
The Swans District Football Development Council (SDFDC) would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors of the July School Holiday Clinic, including Healthway, Chevron, Cash Convertors, Slater and Gartrell Sports and the support of SDFC players past and present for making the day the success it was.
