New Bulldogs find a home at Scott Reserve

The newest litter of Bulldogs have found a place in the hearts and minds of High Wycombe FC supporters. The new players are taking part in the West Australian Amateur Football Leagues’ (WAAFL) Integrated Football Program, which provides intellectually disabled players the chance to play football in a structured competition bedded in a safe and positive environment.
Swans District Manager, Isaac Stewart said the standard of competition is very high. “The players demonstrated a good level of skill and showed massive signs of improvement since the start of the season. There is no doubt that the standard of competition will continue to improve the more games they play,” said Mr Stewart. However, the standard of competition does not remove the primary purpose of the program, which is fun and participation. “The players seemed to love every minute, which was evident every time they kicked a goal.”
Mr Stewart said the program has been highly successful for High Wycombe FC and its new players. “Integrated Football is an outstanding program, which has helped the Swans District to engage a segment of the community, that has often found it difficult to access football,” said Mr Stewart. The success of the program at High Wycombe FC is credit to the drive and passion of High Wycombe President, Brett Hockley and the support of the Swans District and WAFC Senior Community Manager, Cameron Agnew.
The Integrated Football Program, which was launched by the WAAFL in 2010, started with four teams but has since expanded into five teams with High Wycombe FC signing up to play in 2011. High Wycombe FC plays once a month against teams from Fremantle CBC, Lynwood Ferndale, Warnbro Swans and Kingsway.
