Auskicker's from Mundaring JFC take a quick breather

It was Auskickers galore at the Swans District NAB Auskick Gala Day on Sunday, 3rdJuly, with Jubilee Reserve being converted into a plethora of Auskick grids. Due to the support of Bassendean JFC and the dedication of Auskick Coordinators from the far reaches of the Swans District, more than 500 kids got the chance to show off their skills and play against Auskick centres from Bassendean, Chidlow, Chittering, Darlington, Forrestfield, Gidgegannup, High Wycombe, Kalamunda, Lesmurdie, Midvale, Mt Helena, Mundaring, Parkervile, Swan View and Upper Swan.

SDFC league players, Tallan Ames, Tony Notte, and Michael Aitchison took a step back to grass roots level by pulling on a pair of boots to play once more for their old community clubs. Ames plied his trade at Bassendean, Notte honed his skills at Upper Swan and Aitchison made his mark at Kalamunda.  The rest of the SDFC league team took some time out of their busy schedules to provide some expertise to the kids on long bombs, goal kicking and handballing.

The NAB Auskick Gala Day has become one of the most highly anticipated and memorable days in the district calendar and the 2011 Auskick Gala Day was no different with the day being blessed with clear blue skies, which produced the perfect playing conditions for Auskick and plenty of smiles.  “The day was all about fun and gave the next generation of Swans players the chance to play games against other boys and girls, that they wouldn’t normally get the chance to play against,” said Swans District Development Officer, Paul Godfrey.

Godfrey acknowledged the dedicated parents and volunteers, who took part in the Auskick Gala Day. “The Swans District NAB Auskick Gala Day has grown exponentially over the years and the mountain of work put in by our stakeholders, particularly the host club Bassendean JFC and the Swan Districts Football Club, was commendable and made for a momentous occasion,” said Godfrey.
