Swans mauled by hungry dogs
After a shock-loss last week to cellar dwellers East Fremantle, the Swans were looking to bounce back when they took on third placed South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval.
Only 30 seconds had elapsed when Andrew Siegert booted the first goal for the Bulldogs, before he took a good mark and kicked his second five minutes later.
Wayde Twomey set up Robinson for the Swans first major, before Andrew Krakouer laid a strong tackle in the Swan’s 50 and was rewarded with a free kick which gave his side the lead at the 10 minute mark.
Unfortunately that was all she wrote for the black and white, as the Bulldogs piled on eight goals in 25 minutes, with Siegert and Murphy snaring six goals between them.
The signs were looking ominous for the Swans, with a blow-out on the cards.
QTR Time
South Fremantle: 9.2 (56)
Swan Districts: 2.3 (15)
Robinson booted the first goal of the second term, but costly misses by M. Johnson and Taylor saw the Bulldogs capitalise with two quick goals, extending their lead to a game high of 46-points.
Krakouer and M. Johnson set up a great team goal, with Garlett drilling the Swan’s first set shot of the match at the 12-minute mark of the second quarter.
Two consecutive goals to M. Johnson late in the second quarter weren’t enough for the black and white, with the game all but over.
Half Time
South Fremantle: 14. 6 (90)
Swan Districts: 6. 5 (41)
Siegert bagged his fourth at the five minute mark, whilst Lange offered the reply at the other end. More costly misses from the Swans didn’t help, as Murphy’s fourth sent the Bulldogs into three figures.
