Onslow Students Begin Scholarship Program at La Salle College

Two new Onslow students, Kelsey Condon and Liam Angus, joined current Onslow V Swan Scholarship participants, Keely Tucker and Kristen Manifis, at La Salle College in Perth to begin school and V Swan programming this week.
The program works in partnership with La Salle College to develop further opportunities for young people in the Pilbara through the areas of education, the arts and sport. In addition to these areas, students will also be involved in the “V Swans Mentor program” initiative, a program that provides transitional support through pathways into training, employment, higher education and elite sport.
Both Kelsey and Liam showed leadership skills amongst their peers, with keen senses of humour and committed approaches to attendance in school and participation in sports. They have represented Onslow in both football and basketball at numerous carnivals and events, and will look to continue improvement in both sports while living in Perth.
Kelsey’s energy is evident on the sports field, particularly in basketball, where his ability attack rebounds and sprint the floor has led to him being a key figure in Onslow’s success. Kelsey is just beginning to realize his potential and it will be exciting to watch him flourish in a bigger environment.
Liam’s court savvy, attention to instruction and natural scoring flair have provided a key scoring punch for the basketball team, and he demonstrates similar skills in footy. These qualities have led to dramatic improvements over the last year and it will be great to watch his progress as he competes in bigger and better competitions.
Both young men have been tremendous assets to the Onslow community – and we wish you all the best while boarding in the big smoke!
