AFL Included Again

It was great to start the New Year involved once again with Inclusion WA and their community inclusion program here in the Shire of Roebourne. In terms of the AFL program it was the best participation result yet with 21 participants, growing steadily upward form 12 at the first session in early 2011.
It was also great to have Yandina along demonstrating their skills and making the session high class and heaps of fun.
All players were put through their paces starting with their fast touch and footy circus skills which allowed the team to show their enthusiasm and knowledge. Handball skills and tricks followed and the players blossomed when put through their kicking drills.
V Swans Pilbara Development players Phil Khongjaroen and Ritchie Wright lead the session well in their first job as lead coaches. The talented pair are starting to give back to their community through sports delivery adding to their efforts having been involved with the set up and running of the AFL 9’ pilot in spring 2011.
Matt Shaw the Sport and Community Development Officer with Inclusion WA was happy with the session. “Thanks again to the V Swans team, we are really happy to be involved with them here in Karratha, they have been on board with the program from the start in Karratha and we are very keen to continue to work with them in the years to come.” He said.
All participants will be looking eagerly forward to April, not just for the Easter eggs and school holidays, but also for the fantastic sports like swimming, cricket, T-Ball, basketball and footy that the community through Inclusion Sport WA put on for all to join in.
