Swans open their doors!
Today saw the Swan Districts Football Club opened their doors to those who are struggling in the community, as part of their ‘Feed a Need’ initiative.
Every Wednesday morning from 8:30am-9:30am, anyone who is hungry around Perth is invited to Steel Blue Oval to enjoy some warm food, a drink and a place to socialise with staff, volunteers and other community members.
After Ross Leipold, the Swan Districts Operations Manager, reached out to local organisations and sponsors to help in any way they can, it was an easy decision for Matthew Pham from Midland IGA to be involved.
“I’m passionate about the issue of homelessness” he said. “I’ve been a part of the Vinnies Sleepout each year to raise some money for homeless people.”
“We have donated $1000 to the club from our community chest, to spend as they see fit towards the Swans Community Brekky".
Also in attendance this morning was Senior Sergeant Brent Roberts, the districts engagement and support manager, verifying that small initiatives like this are significant in making positive impacts throughout the community.
Big thank you to all our sponsors that make these morning a success. - Chris Stannage, MIdland IGA, Smith Broughton Auctioneers and Coles Bassendean.
