Former Swan makes it a triple treat
Nathan Broad has staked his claim on being one of the most successful Swan Districts draftees, claiming his third AFL Premiership in just four seasons over the weekend, as Richmond knocked off Geelong to become 2020’s champions.
Coming to Swans from Upper Swan JFC, he was overlooked in the 2011 draft but did not let this deter him from his AFL goal, continuing to play in the state league to prove he was worth taking a chance on.
Four years later, and after a breakout season in 2015 - where he averaged 20 disposals a game and finished fourth in the Swans best and fairest award - it was Richmond who would give him his AFL lifeline, picking him up with their third and final pick of the draft, number 67 overall.
Now just 70 games into wearing the yellow and black, Broad has become a triple Premiership player (2017, 2019 & 2020), having cemented himself as a key component in the Tigers backline.
In what has been labelled as a ‘Tiger’s Dynasty’, Broad and his side are now included in the conversation as to who the greatest powerhouse team of the 21st century is, being compared with Brisbane, Geelong and Hawthorn.
Please join us in congratulating Nathan on achieving this amazing feat.
