Swans response to COVID 19 Lockdown

Monday, February 1, 2021 - 9:02 AM

Effective from 6pm last night, Sunday, 31 January 2021 until 6pm Friday, 5 February, the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel and South West regions will enter a 5-day lockdown, based on health advice. These measures are being implemented due to a fast evolving situation in Western Australia with the positive COVID-19 case detected in a hotel quarantine worker.

The Swan Districts Football Club COVID-19 Taskforce reconnected on Sunday to establish an urgent club response to the threat.

“Everyone at our club must be vigilant and exemplars of our community. It’s important we follow the direction of the State government to ensure our people, together with those in our community remain safe”, said the club’s Chief Executive Jeff Dennis.

“These rules aren't only about us as individuals, they are also to protect the vulnerable around us. While we must ensure each of us remains safe, we equally must not be responsible for unknowingly transmitting the virus to others”.

“We've all seen what's happened around the world to those countries and communities that haven’t responded quickly and aggressively to the COVID threat”.

The office will be closed throughout the lockdown period and all staff will be working from home. All staff can be contacted direct during this period or through the club email - admin@swandistrictsfc.com

All club events and events scheduled to be held at Steel Blue Oval will be postponed. And the club’s Sports Scientist, Ted Polglaze and his staff will provide training programs for all WAFL and WAFLW players to work in pairs up to one hour per day in accordance with the government’s guidelines.

The club is also currently contacting any players, staff or volunteers who may have been in the areas identified by the government to ensure they get tested.
