Press Release Friday 14th July - Greg Harding Stands Down
Swan Districts Football Club Senior coach Greg Harding will stand down from his position at the end of the 2017 season after seven strong years of leadership and development at the Club.
Mr Harding cites personal reasons for his decision to not continue beyond 2017 and said, “I have made the difficult decision to step down from the senior coaching position at SDFC at the end of this 2017 season. In doing so, I firmly
believe the decision is timely and during a period when the club is progressing strongly both on and off the field”.
“My announcement prior to the end of the season will provide the club with important time to source and employ the best possible candidate to lead Swans into 2018 and beyond”.
“Since moving to the Swan Valley over 10 years ago, the club and people within have become a massive part of my life and will continue to be in the future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank SDFC for their ongoing support and confidence to lead this magnificent club for the past 7 years”.
“Right now, we have games to win to ensure a major competition presence during September. Everyone at the club must continue to strive to convert our current sound position into guaranteed and competitive finals participation”.
Swans President Peter Hodyl said, "It’s extremely disappointing to lose a person of Greg's character and football knowledge. He’s a fantastic developer of talent and people, and will leave a very big hole to fill. Greg’s not just our senior coach - he’s actively involved in all grades at Swans. Greg always makes himself available to members, supporters and sponsors and his ability to communicate openly with all and sundry is a rare characteristic."
