Not Returning To Swans in 2020

Wednesday, February 19, 2020 - 3:40 PM

Unfortunately, Rhys Palmer informed the coaching staff, playing group and football club as a whole that he will not be continuing on for the 2020 season.

It has been well documented what Rhys has had to endure over the past 12 months with his health after a life threatening motorcycle accident, and to his credit, Rhys' rehabilitation has gone well and has recovered to full health. This has always been our priority at the club for Rhys, and playing football was always secondary.

"As most could imagine, going through something like what Rhys has can change your perspective on things, accompanied by the fact that Rhys has been playing football at the highest level since he was 17 years of age, the commitment that goes with that and his direction with off field business pursuits, Rhys has decided to retire from WAFL Football" league coach Adam Pickering said. "I would personally like to thank Rhys for his contribution and commitment to our football club over the past two years. His on field football in the early part of 2018 for SDFC was second to none and showed what an asset he was going to be for us."

"As a senior coach, Rhys was the first player we recruited into the club and he could see our vision and direction our footy club was on, and supported us wholeheartedly in in that direction and I wish him and his family all the best in the future" Pickering said.

We would like to thank Rhys Palmer for his contribution to the Swan Districts Football Club over the past two seasons.
