Ashley Sharp Appointed WAFLW Development Squad Head Coach
Swans and past Fremantle AFLW star Ashley Sharp has been appointed Head Coach of the new Swans WAFLW talent development program.
The aim of the program is to identify, develop and support talented young female athletes to become Swans WAFLW players.
The 7-week program commenced in August and focused on skill development and game sense. The next stage of the talent pathway and entry point into the WAFLW system is through the club’s Rogers Cup program.
Pre-season training for the 2023 WAFLW competition commences mid-November.
“I am super excited to be named Head Coach for the development squad for 2022. Not only do I get to spread my knowledge of AFL with the girls, but I can also help guide them down the right pathway to play at Swan Districts in the future”, Ashley Sharp.
“I'm looking forward to seeing the amazing talent we have in the Swans zone and getting these girls down to training sessions to develop their skills, leadership, and game sense.”
“I can't wait to see the girls take out on the field everything they’ve learnt over the training program for our two games against Subiaco and West Perth on the school holidays. I'm sure they will absolutely smash it and hopefully they’ll be some Swannies and future AFLW stars in the making!!!”
Training is Mondays and Wednesdays at Ron Jose Oval, Midvale from 4:30pm – 6pm.
