Brian Gray inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame
Brian Gray is the fourth Swan Districts Football Club’s Hall of Fame 2023 inductee to be announced. Gray will join Eric Gorman, Simon Beasley and Leon Baker in a group of 6 people to be inducted into this illustrious group in 2023.
The club’s Hall of Fame was established to recognise and enshrine players, coaches, volunteers, and administrators who have made a significant contribution to the club on or off the oval since the club’s inception in 1934.
There have only been 38 members inducted into the Swan Districts Football Club Hall of Fame and only two have been elevated to Immortals.
Gray played 205 games and kicked 89 goals for Swans between 1951 and 1963. He was the club’s leading goalkicker in 1953 with 40 goals, the interim Senior coach in 1959, and League Captain and Colts Coach in 1960.
His experience contributed to the Club winning three Premierships in 1961, 1962 and 1963, which was just reward for having being a club stalwart during the difficult 1950’s.
Gray was a low to the ground player who used his left side to good effect. He played on the wing in all three Premierships.
He received Swans Life Membership in 1963 and coached the Reserves side in 1967.
The remaining two 2023 Hall of Fame inductees, together with two elevated Immortals, and a second Iconic Moment will be announced over the coming weeks.
All will be officially recognised at the Swan Districts Hall of Fame Induction evening to be held at the club on Saturday 1st July 2023. It’s an opportunity for supporters to meet Swans royalty in person.
Tickets cost $100 and includes complimentary drinks on arrival and dinner.
