Tuesday, August 8, 2023 - 5:04 PM

In recognition of the club’s inaugural Pride WAFL home game on Saturday 26 August, the club's local Member of Parliament Dave Kelly earlier this week invited the club to present all 95 Western Australian Parliamentarians a pair of Swans Pride socks .

Joining the Swan Districts contingent was WAFL players Jesse Glass-McCasker and Brad Lynch, WAFLW players Jess Cox, Jamie Henry and Naomi Baker, Bassendean Councillor Emily Wilding, representatives of the local Pride community Ian Odlum, Misty Farquhar and Alyce Schotte, staff members Joely Bouckaert, Jason Burton and Jeff Dennis, club President Peter Hodyl, and Minister for Sport and Recreation David Templeman and Bassendean Member of Parliament Dave Kelly.

The Swan Districts LGBTQI+ inclusion strategy is an integral part of the club’s diversity, equity and inclusion plan helping build a community where everyone feels they belong and can contribute.

"It's wonderful to receive the congratulatory messages of support from many of our members of Parliament which is an extension of the endorsements received by our local communities", said the club's Chief Executive Jeff Dennis.

The club’s inaugural WAFL Pride home game is on Saturday 26 August against Peel Thunder at Steel Blue Oval Bassendean and is proudly supported by the Town of Bassendean

The Pride game will be preceded by an education/discussion evening in the club's President's Lounge at Steel Blue Oval at 7pm - 8pm on Tuesday 22 August 2023. Swans players, volunteers, staff, members and supporters, and local community members are invited to attend. The panel will discuss the importance of inclusion in sport.
