Twomey Returns to Swans
Friday, 16th December 2011
Swans Districts are pleased to announce that Wayde Twomey will return to the club in 2012.
Twomey spent three seasons with the Swans from 2008-2010, clocking up 60 WAFL games and having had played a key role in the 2010 premiership over Claremont. The 2011 AFL Draft saw Twomey rookie listed by Carlton. After being elevated to their senior list, he played just two matches and was then de-listed at the conclusion of the season.
Swan Districts Football Manager, Phil Smart is looking forward to Wayde coming back.
"A player of his caliber was sorely missed during the 2011 Season. It is great news for the club going forward”.
League Coach, Greg Harding is also excited about the benefits Twomey will bring to the playing group.
“Ecstatic to have Wayde back in black and white after a year with Carlton. His two major strengths are his elite foot skills and power running capacity and we were deficient in both those crucial areas last year.
“Not only will he greatly improve our on field performance, but he also brings level of professionalism and leadership that will be extremely beneficial to our entire playing group” Harding said.
Twomey will move back to the west coast early in January to start training with the rest of the squad after the Christmas break.
