Darling Range leaves teams in their wake

Claremont player Clay McLernon shed his tiger skin to successfully coach the Swans District zoned Darling Range Sports College to the Elimination Final of the WAFC Year 8/9 Cup. McLernon was impressed by his side’s glittering performance and said his side’s success was attributed to their team-focused playing style. “The boys played a high pressure brand of footy, sweating on the opposition’s mistakes and converting their opportunities through great skill execution,” said McLernon.
Darling Range Sports College completed the competition as minor premiers on top of the Swans District A Division. While La Salle College, Governor Stirling Senior High School, Guildford Grammar and Mazenod College competed strongly, it was Darling Range who made it to the top of the tree at the business end of the competition. After being declared minor premiers, Darling Range hopped on a bus to Mandurah, to take on Swans District Country Champions, Bunbury Catholic College.
Darling Range was victorious against Bunbury Catholic College before withstanding a stunning 4th quarter comeback by Clontarf Football Academy in the Elimination Final at Brownes Stadium. Darling Range took to the stage once again at Brownes Stadium for the Quarter Final, coming agonisingly close to progressing into the Semi-Final, had it not been for the height and run of Trinity College.
Darling Range was valiant in defeat however, losing 6.4.40 to Trinity’s 8.2.50. The stars of the show for Darling Range were Jeff Piromwong, Justis Leaf, Reid Polak, Kade Outridge, Chad Daniels and Phoenix Roy. The Swans District B Division went right down to the wire with all teams finishing with the same win-loss ratio. But, it was Helena College who came up trumps due to their high percentage, followed closely by Swan Christian College, Lesmurdie Senior High School and Darling Range B’s.
