This
season’s hard work to the finals will be recognised in style when the teams,
staff and supporters gather for an elegant dinner and drinks at the Swan
Districts Function Room for the Swans Medal Count on Saturday night.
But
the excitement will be in the votes and Swan’s League Captain, Adam Lange
expects the votes in the Reserves and League to be close call.
“Both
teams had a good level and even contribution from many players making this year
one of the harder votes to pick,” Lange said.
Lange
said if he had to choose it would be Garth Taylor, who played every game in the
season and took over the reins of captain while Lange recovers from a
collarbone injury, but his other pick would Josh Roberts who picked up 25 votes
at this year’s Sandover Medal.
Tall
Llane Spaanderman and 19-year-old Brett Wolfenden should also high on the count
list according to Lange.Wolfenden, who
only started playing for the League in Round 5, equalled Roberts 25 votes at
the Sandover Medal which makes him a good contender for the Swans Medal Count.
The
night is expected to be “highly entertaining” with the close count, other
awards to be handed out to the most deserving and the celebration of an
exciting season.
