 Formation of the Association

The first extraordinary general meeting of the Association was held on the 1st of September 1958 at Bassendean Oval and was chaired by Dick Retallack and attended by T. Holdsworth, D. Anderson, T. Bright, T. Moiler, J. Reilly, L. Lowrey, C. Avery, R. Riley, J. Cooper, R. Latham, L. Armstrong, R. Maynard, K. McInnerney, W. Burns, A. Loveridge, R. Randell, A. Morton, R. Kemp, G. Easton, F. Sweetapple, R. Till, A. Lockyer, J. Candler and R. Hoy. 

The meeting was called for the purpose of forming an Swan Districts Football Club, Old Players & Officials Association. 

It was moved at the meeting that this new group be called "Swan Districts Football Club Old Players and Officials Association" and that membership of the 'association be drawn from ex players, present and ex members of the committee, life members of the club'. 

J Reilly was elected as the first President of Association with the first elected committee being E. Holdsworth, R. Maynard, D. Anderson and A. Morton. 

The meeting closed at 9.30pm with a decision to hold the first official meeting of the association on the first Monday on October 1958.

The first official meeting of the Association was held on Monday 6th October 1958, and was attended by the President J. Reilly, Secretary R. Latham, committee members T. Holdsworth, D. Anderson R. Maynard, A. Morton and 38 intending new members. Also present were four current league players in D. Carrick, C. Edwards, W. Sidebottom and B. Gray.

At the first meeting the President presented the constitution of the association as drawn up by the committee. The constitution was adopted by all present after a lengthy discussion on the qualification of membership. It was finally moved and seconded 'that membership be drawn from all ex League Players, Seconds Players and Officials of the club who had fullfilled one complete season'. The motion was carried. 

Dick McDonald was elected the first patron of the association, and Messers R. Newby and C. Avery elected as vice presidents. The annual subscription was set at one pound, 1 shilling ($2.10). 

The first Annual General Meeting of the Association was held on October 20th, 1959.

The Objectves of the Association

• To promote and encourage the fraternization of ex-players and officials of the Swan Districts Football Club (Inc), hereinafter referred to as "the Club".
• To assist and encourage the game of football in the district of the Swan Districts Football Club (Inc).
• To make grants of money or provide services or property to the Club for the promotion and advancement of the objectives of the Club at the discretion of the Committee of Management.
• To co-operate with other West Australian Football League Past Players and Officials Associations for the betterment of football within the West Australian Football League.
• To participate in fraternizations with kindred associations.
