Swans Women's Football Changing Of The Guard
Kara Antonio, the Swan Districts Football Club’s Senior WAFL Women’s coach has decided not to coach the club this coming season.
Kara has an impeccable playing record at Swans including being a four-time Premiership player (2013, 14, 16, 17) and three-time Premiership captain (2014, 16, 17), three-time Lou Knitter medalist – best on ground in the Grand Final (2013, 14, 16) and four-time Mandy McSherry medalist (2013, 14, 15, 16). She was also the club’s Youth Girls Coach in 2013 and 2014, the WAWFL League Coach in 2018 and Inaugural WAFLW Coach in 2019 helping take the team to the Grand Final.
“We wish to acknowledge Kara’s tremendous contribution to the club both on and off the field over a number of years. She’s worked tirelessly with our young female players helping them reach their dream to play in the AFLW”, said club President Peter Hodyl.
“While it’s a sad day for our club, Kara will no doubt continue to leave her mark promoting football throughout WA. We wish Kara every success in her future”.
The club will be announcing the appointment of a new Senior Coach shortly.
