Lighting up junior footy in 2020
The High Wycombe Junior Football Club will launch the 2020 Junior Football Season at Scott Reserve on Thursday, 16th of July.
The WAFC Metro Central Region and Swan Districts Football Club are excited to see the junior competition launched at Scott Reserve, following a recent upgrade of lighting towers by the City of Kalamunda.
High Wycombe JFC now have the capability to host youth and girls fixtures underlights for the first time.
The President of High Wycombe JFC Greg Geier said “This is a great achievement for the club with the major benefit being to the Girls competition that now have the ability to have home games, which was the original driving force behind the project”. Mr. Geier went on to say “Recognition for this achievement must go to the past president Floyd Sullivan that has persued this project over the last 4-5 years and to finally see the project become a reality”.
The significant investment in lighting for Scott Reserve has been made possible through the support of Forrestfield High Wycombe Community Bank, Hon. Steve Irons MP, Steven Price MLA and City of Kalamunda.
Season 2020 will see High Wycombe JFC field a record 17 male and female teams, which is a significant achievement for the club dealing with the impacts of COVID-19.
Swan Districts CEO Jeff Dennis applauded the efforts of the High Wycombe JFC committee by saying “We’re delighted to see junior football under lights at Scott Reserve. We appreciate the hard work required to secure this level of investment and commend the partnership between High Wycombe JFC and City of Kalamunda. It provides a terrific opportunity for kids to play our great game day and night”.’
